Frenštát p. R. - history of the village

The village lies in a valley between the confluence of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids Lubin Lomné. The exact date of the founding of Frenštát or person of its founder is not known. The likely emergence of city states between the years 1293 – 1316, in a period of great colonization. The emergence and development of the city was initially linked to šostýnským dominion and probable founder of the city of Hückeswagen Mr. Henry, and later with the dominion of Hukvaldy Olomouc bishopric. The first written document recalls the existence of the city to r. 1382. The city gained importance since the 16th century. featuring shops and markets, craft and iron hammer, the first guild was weaving guild. During the Thirty Years War was Frenštát r. 1626 burned, r. 1646 occupied by the Swedes and twice suffered a plague. Weaving, pasekářská and Wallachian colonization contributed since the 17th century. to economic development. City won the title in Frenštát r., 1781.
