Nature reserve Moravian

Nature Reserve of Rozdílná Forest

Basic information

The site is characteristic for its mixed forest stands in south-west part of the forest complex called Rakovec to the east from Frenštát pod Radhoštěm. It was declared a nature reserve in the area of 30.76 in 1999.

Subject of protection

An old mixed forest at the foothills of Beskydy mountains which is a permanent residence of Black Stork (Ciconia nigra) and Common Raven (Corvus corax).

Living nature

There is genetically valuable, more than hundred years old mixed forest stand with open canopy and dominant Norway Spruce (Picea abies), Silver Fir (Abies alba), Common Beech (Fagus sylvatica), European Oak (Quercus robur) and Small-leaved Lime (Tilia cordata). Deer Fern (Blechnum spicant) can be found in its herb layer. The area is a permanent nesting place for endangered Black Stork (Ciconia nigra), Collared Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca) and Common Raven (Corvus corax). Zoological research in 2010 confirmed the occurrence of Viviparous Lizzard (Zootoca vivipara) and Slowworm (Anguis fragilis).
