Nature reserve Moravian

Hněvošický háj Nature Reserve 2

Basic information

The site represents a natural lime oak grove with features of Carpathian flora which offers refuge to local fauna of deciduous trees at lower altitudes. The site was declared a nature reserve in the area of 67.71 ha in 1969.

Subject of protection

Oak- hornbeam stands with shrubby layer and rich flora are the subject of protection here.


The site serves as a refuge for many animal species living in deciduous forests in lower altitudes. The site is a nesting place for Hobby (Falco subbuteo), Stock Dove (Columba oenas), Black Woodpecker (Dryocopus martius), Common Nightingale (Luscinia megarhynchos) and Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca). The following bird species occur in the area: Tawny Owl (Strix aluco), Collared Flycatcher (Ficedula albicollis) or Blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla). There are some protected reptiles and amphibians living in here: Common Toad (Bufo bufo), Eurasian Green Toad (Bufo viridis), Slowworm (Anguis fragilis), Viviparous Lizard (Zootoca vivipara) and Grass Snake (Natrix natrix).
