General Information

Na Čermence Natural Monument can be found in the western direction from Kaménka settlement in a forest. This natural monument is a part of a cycle of a Oderské highlands nature park and it includes several bordered localities of renewing flowery beech forests and many herb species. It was declared in 1990 on an area of 9,27 ha.

Subject of Protection

It is an important natural nesting place for many bird species in the beech trunks. Additional trunks may include lime-trees, firs, sycamorea and spruces, all on side-banks of the left-sided drains of Čermná river.

Living Nature

A typical local herbal layer consist of: Dentaria enneaphyllos and Dentaria bulbifera, Gymnocarpium dryopteris, veronica (Veronica montana) and Melica uniflora. We can find even species of a rubble forest, such as fern Polystichum aculeatum and baneberry Actaea spicata. The care of the woodlands is focused on the conversion from spruce monocultures into forests with natural structure. The original very old beech trees are left to natural regeneration without any arteficial interference.
