Natural Monument Kamenec 1

General Information

Kamenec is a marshland powered by a nameless Black brook tributary with a net of pools and moor lakes. It continues as a peatbog on the notrh-east part. This area is localised in the Morávka river floodplain, 2km from Frýdek-Místek town. This area was declared a natural monument in 1992 on the area of 9,82 ha.

Subject of Protection

The marshland biotope in the Morávka river floodplain with a net of pools and moor lakes and a peatbog. This area is a home for many water insect species and many amphibians.

Flora

In the central part of the area, forest vegetation is predominating there, icluding Common Alder (Alnus glutinosa), Grey Aldes (A. incana) or Common Ash-trees (Fraxinus excelsior). In the lake and it´s close surroundings we can find Hawaii arrowhead (Sagittaria sagittifolia), branched bur-reed (Sparganium erectum), Narrowleaf burr-reed (S. emersum), Broad-leaved Pondweed (Potamogeton natans). In the shoals, there is Common Spike-rush (Eleocharis palustris), Water horsetail (Equisetum fluviatile), Compact Rush (J. conglomeratus) and Soft Rush (J. effusus). Common sedge (Carex nigra), Grasslike sedge (C. panicea, C. elongata) and Silvery sedge (C. canescens) predominate on the river banks. Purple moorgrass (Molinia coerulea) and Common Cottongrass (Eriophorum angustifolium) also grow on some of the places.
