Natural park Podbeskydí 4
Basic Information
Natural park Podbeskydí with the area of 125 km2 was proclaimed in 1994 in the region of Nový Jičín district in the most noteworthy part of upland under Radhošť which is represented by Highlands of Štramberk with two different parts – Ženklava and Hodslavice.
Raska´s stone
Raska´s stone is a calcareous mass easily visible from long distance which comes from Štramberk lime stone. This detached limestone block was created by an abruption from a coral reef and its shift to a deeper part of the sea basin by undersea landslide. The rock was named after the former owner of the surrounding woodlands – Yeoman Ignác Raška from Kopřivnice who was the founder of a factory producing pottery and products from clay in Kopřivnice which was in operation from 1812 to 1962.
