Moravice Natural Park 1
Basic information
Moravice Natural Park is the largest protected area in Opava region. It extends in the area of 14 250 ha. Its border runs approximately along Hradec nad Moravicí, Žimrovice, Domoradovice, Melč, Nové and Staré Lublice, Kružberk, Staré and Nové Těchanovice, Březová, Skřípov, Hluboč, Raduň and Chvalíkovice.
Characteristic
Moravice Natural Park belongs to the best preserved and most valuable areas of Opava region. The local vegetation has mostly submontane character; its area shows typical features of Jeseníky foothills. Morava River valley in the area between Kružberk and Hradec nad Moravicí is one of the most beautiful river valleys in the Czech Republic. At some places the river created a canyon with its walls reaching the height of 120 m. There are 7 vegetation units to be found in the entire park such as bottomlands, oak-hornbeam groves or ravine forests. There are 15 registered habitats of protected and endangered species. Several specially protected areas can be found in the area of Moravice Natural Park. It is namely the nature reserves Valach,** Nové Těchanovice**, U Leskoveckého chodníku and the national nature reserve Kaluža.
