Nature Trail Hvozdnice
Welcome in Hvozdnice
Nature Trail
Hvozdnice Nature Trail consists of eighteen stands and will take you round the Hvozdnice river valley, icluding the neighbouring riverine forest, which used to cover the whole Opava lowlands. You will get to know the local plant and animal species and also you will get the information about the geological matters of interest of this unique area. This nature trail was extended through the Štáblovický mill to the forest under Hertice in 2004. You can thus compare the ecosystems of the riverine deciduous and coniferous forests. Three further stands were added as an extension of this trail in the area of the Otická Volcano Nature Monument. This nature trail now offers 18 stands and two picnic areas that make it an ideal space for individual and family trips.

Hvozdnice Nature Trail will lead you to two specifically protected small-scale areas. One of them is the Hvozdnice Nature Reserve, the second is the Otická Volcano. Otická Volcano Nature Munument consists of the remains of a 20 million years old volcano, as was stated by the scientists. It is situated on the Kamenná Mountain near to the village Otice. It was established in 1991 on the area of 10,44 hectars.
