Walking In Veseli

CAPTAIN’S PLEA

The area along the Bata Canal and the Morava River can offer its visitors and nature lovers many interesting experiences. However, its attraction for visitors creates some problems and threats for wildlife. You can help us by sticking to the following basic rules:

Little Ringed (Charadrius dubius)

1) There are nesting colonies of Herons, Storks, Sand Martins, and other birds along the Morava River. Not disturbing them (as visitors and keen photographers trying to catch the best picture unfortunately often do) is key for their successful nesting and raising their offspring.

Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos)

2) Some birds nest directly on the gravel or sand beaches in the river. If we walk on the beaches, we disturb them, sometimes unintentionally trampling nests and eggs – these often blend with the backround, many looking like little stones, and are not easy to see. So, please, DO NOT ENTER THE BEACHES in the nesting period (i.e. from 1st April to 15th July each year).

3) STICK TO THE SPEED LIMIT! The speed limit on the Morava River is set at 25km/h, on the Bata Canal it is 8km/h.

4) Water skiing and the use of PWC’s (Personal Water Craft) are FORBIDDEN in the area!

Thank you very much for observing these rules. By doing so you are contributing to the protection of the natural heritage of this valuable Natura2000 site.
