Natural Monument Hranečník

Basic information

Natural monument Hranečník is situated to the north-west from Píšť municipality, along the Czech-Polish border. Its area is 4.93 ha. It is characterised by an old mixed forest of predominant Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris) and other less frequent species like Norway Spruce (Picea abies), English Oak (Quercus robur), European Beech (Fagus sylvatica) and European Larch (Larix decidua). The natural moment was declared in 1990 as a protected area of nesting colonies of Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea), quite rare species in the North Moravia and a unique one in choosing its nesting locality. Apart from that there is one couple of endangered Common Raven (Corvus corax) living in this territory. Due to possible disturbance of nesting birds the entry onto this protected area is not recommended.
