Localities of high botanical value in the vicinity of Píšť

Basic information

There are several localities of high botanical value in the vicinity of Píšť. The most significant one is located in the floodplain of Doubrava stream spreading from its spring up to a pond called Suchá nádrž.

Besides many others, the Western March Orchid (Dactylorhiza majalis) and Southern Adderstongue (Ophioglossum vulgatum), the plants protected by law even in neighbouring Poland, grow on the local moist thistle meadows. The False Helleborine (Veratrum album subsp. Lobelianum) or a pink flowering bush Mezereon (Daphne mezereum) can also be found in here. Other botanically interesting localities include alder-ash bottomlands nearby Bělský mlýn and well-preserved oak-hornbeam stands in the forest called Vlčák
