Lomnice nad Popelkou
Chateaux stands on the site of a Gothic fortress. It was restored in years 2009 and 2010. One-level building was completed by Morzines in 1737 in Baroque style. Its wing at southern side adjacent to the square has more fragmented facade. Morzin sold chateaux Ignatius Falgem in the late 18th century. It was acquired by Rohan in 1834. The Chateaux served as the seat of the lordship primarily office eponymous estate after 1850, then the district court. Business community bought chateaux after the establishment of the independent republic (1918). It has been adapted for the nursing home in the50‘s of the 20th century.
The most famous moment in history of Lomnice chateau became a night in early May 1776, when the stayed Josef the second, the king of Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation and co-ruler of his mother, Maria Theresa.
Exposition deals with the documentation of history of the town Lomnice nad Popelkou and its surroundings, including the systematic gathering, recording and treatment of material evidence of the development of nature and society of the region. We can find a permanent exhibition on the history of Lomnice region, Ethnography, Geology, Zoology, Memorial of Šlechta‘s, held here also exhibitions and lectures.
