Bartošovice pond system

Fishpond is traditionally associated with Southern Bohemia. In the past the pond area and the north-eastern Moravia, where in the past was much more ponds. The Protected Landscape Area, 57 lakes with an area of ​​almost 7 km2, which is 8.5% of the PLA. Occupies the largest area Bartošovický pond system on an area of ​​120 ha. The first mention of the creation of this system is from the year 1492. Initially, the water supply from kunvaldského (Kunín) pond. Historical records indicate that in the past several ponds were converted into fields and meadows. Great importance was also reeds, which are used as roofing, bedding in the barn and the production of goods. Ponds are built in flat alluvial plain at the edge of the one-year floodplain waters are very shallow and are powered from the river Oder. From all sides are surrounded by dikes, which also fulfills a protective function against a surface spill. The main farmed fish are carp and mirror carp supination, to a lesser extent, for example. Tench, pike, catfish. Every year in late October there takes place the traditional harvest combined with tasting fish specialties.
