General information

An overgrowing peat meadows and sloping matgrass pastures with an adjacent, predominantly spruce forest. The nature reserve is a biotope for wetland animal species and rare endangered plant species. It was declared in 1990.

Flora

The peat meadows are adjoined by alternately wet meadow assemblages of the Calthion, providing optimum conditions for the Common Spotted Orchid (Dactylorhiza longibracteata), Broad-leaved Marsh Orchid (D. majalis), and the Small Lousewort (Pedicularis sylvatica). The dry matgrass pastures on the slopes in the southeast are overgrown with the Common Juniper (Juniperus communis), Common Broom (Sarothamnus scoparius), Oneseed Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna), Alder Buckthorn (Frangula alnus), and other shrubs. The wooded part comprises secondary sprucewood with interfusions of the European Weeping Birch (Betula pendula), Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris), European Larch (Larix decidua), and the Sycamore Maple (Acer pseudoplatanus). The Deer Fern (Blechnum spicant) and the Running Ground Pine (Lycopodium clavatum) are found in places in the undergrowth.
