Alpine spruce forests
Alpine spruce forests are naturally rare in the Beskids. They only occur in elevations from 1,100 m; therefore they can only be found on the peaks of the highest Beskids’ mountains – Lysá hora, Smrk, Kněhyně, and Velký Polom. In the undergrowth, alpine species grow, such as Redgrass (Calamagrostis villosa), inconspicuous Alpine coltsfoot, white-flowering chickweed wintergreen, Fir Clubmoss and the small-flowered Clasping Twistedstalk.
