Trip Keprnicke mountains
The disappearance of the white poles
The Jeseníky Mountains are not only home to hunters, shepherds and woodcutters. In the 19th century a new inhabitant arrived – the hiker. He has become an integral part of the mountains with his rucksack on his back, a stick in his hand and stout shoes on his feet. Members of alpine associations used to take care of maintaining the marked hiking trails, lookout points, resting places, springs and access to rock formations. In the Jeseníky the original hiking trail symbols were marked on white poles. At the crossroads where you now find yourselves, one of those white poles lasted longer than any other, and so this place began to be called ,,White Pole“.
