Spring at the Chapel of Virgin Mary
Basic information The spring at the Chapel of Virgin Mary is looked after by the pupils of Raškovice Basic School and Kindergarten with the support of Raškovice parish. You can find a few benches and a table there. The roof of the chapel was newly painted, fallen leaves around the spring are being regularly removed and rubbish from nearby stream and forest cleared. This spring was awarded in a school survey called Miss Spring and its opening took place on the Day of Water 2010. Local authorities, priest from Skalice and public attanded the celebration. The pupils, taking part in a nationwide programme called The Ecoschool, shared the principles of spring cleaning, sang a few songs about water and springs accompanied by the flute. Matters of interest As a part of the project of the pupils´ programme, the content of the spring´s water was investigated in 2010. Its samples contained high levels of nitrogen that do not meet the criteria of drinking water. Big single stones are circumscribing the spring, therefore soil and fallen leaves may be the cause of possible pollution. If the parish finds a sponsor to wall the stones and repeat the water analysis, an information about the water state will be displayed there.
