Plants – spring aspect
Each forest is characterised by the composition of both, the tree as well as herbal layer. Deciduous trees are typical of so-called spring aspect. Some plants benefit from the end of wintertime when there is enough sun light (the trees are still without leaves) and moisture to create colourful carpets in the undergrowth. White carpets are made by European wood anemone, rue leaved isopyrum and especially wild garlic, blooming a bit later. Yellow carpets are made by true oxlip, dark yellow ones by Gagea flowers, shiny yellow ones by lesser celandine and marsh marigold. Violet carpets are produced by spring fumewort, spring vetchling, dentaria glandulosa and bulb-bearing dentaria bulbifera. Dentaria enneaphyllos are known of pale yellow flowers. Alternate-leaved golden saxifrage is interesting for its laced yellow-green inflorescence. White-green bells of Solomon's-seal grow hidden under the trees.
Summer species
Plants less sensitive to light appear here at a later stage. It is especially the undergrowth of enchanter's nightshade, sweet woodruff, yellow archangel, touch-me-not balsam and glutinous sage. One can also spot here the European wild ginger, true lover's knot, wood spurge or great masterwort. Eurasian Baneberry is another important, although not as known herb growing in this area. In the summer, bunches of ferns spread wide in moist parts of the forest. They are represented mostly by common lady-fern and common male fern.
