Pedunculate Oak in Pustá Polom

Basic Information

There is a Pedunculate oak (Quercus robur) growing at the crossroads of forest paths from Pustá Polom to Přerovec in the district of Pustá Polom municipality. The tree is 32 m high and its trunk perimeter is 528 cm. The oak was declared memorable already in the year 1972. It is estimated to be 400 years old.

Points of Interest

If you are interested in history, you could go searching for ruins of Přerovec castle which can be found nearby the memorable oak. The first written account of the castle comes from the year 1492, its origins to 14th, perhaps even 13th century as the castle arrangement and the excavated objects suggest. According to the records, the castle had been abandoned by the year 1576. Nowadays, its surrounding is forested, especially the north part which has been newly forested by conifers and is barely accessible. The castle would rise at the end of a promontory close to a confluence of two unnamed brooks, about a kilometre away from Přerovec settlement.
