Memorable trees of Ostrava and Frýdek - Místek Districts

Limes near the stone cross in Rychaltice

Basic information

Originally, two Small-leaved Limes (Tilia cordata) and two Large-leaved Lindens (Tilia platyphyllos) were declared memorable in this place but one of the lindens had to be cut down. At present there are only three of them to be found here. These limes were declared memorable in 2005, they are 20 m high and approximately 250 years old.

Matters of interest

The memorable lindens grow near the oldest stone cross in Rychaltice parish. The stone cross was built at the times of Jan Alois Mandinetz in 1765 and can be found near the old road leading from Hukvaldy to Místek. A storm strongly damaged one arm of the cross in the nineties of the 20th century but the parish sponsored its reconstruction. The parish also renewed the neighbourhood and pilgrims who are passing by the cross may use three benches.
