Lime at Church

Basic information

There is a broad-leaved lime (Tilia platyphyllos) growing in the centre of Březová village in Silesia at St. Nikolas Church. The lime was planted here in the year 1698. It was declared memorable in the year 1986. Its trunk perimeter is about 590 cm, its height 25 m.

Things to note

Březová village is situated in the south of Opava region at the altitude of about 525 m and consists of five local parts: Březová, Leskovec, Lesní Albrechtice, Gručovice and Jančí. 1385 inhabitants live in the five mentioned residential parts. The first written record of Březová comes from the year 1238. The village was probably set up by monks of Benedictine Monastery. As it lay on an important trade route, it was growing in its importance in the course of the following decades and centuries
