White Carpathians - Protected Areas
ZA LESEM
This small-scale protected area has been designated mainly for the conservation of the White Crocus Crocus albiflorus. Za lesem is the only site with this rare plant in the White Carpathians.

In the past, the biodiversity was significantly decreased by excessive nutrient content in the soil – this was due to the fact, that there during was a large cattle byre built here and the nutrients from the manure significantly altered the soil conditions. The nature conservation efforts aim at a return to a more favourable status.

Managed by: the state, through Bile Karpaty (White Carpathians) Protected Landscape Area Administration
