White Carpathians - Protected Areas
UVEZENE
The small-scale protected area was designated to protect a mixed broadleaved forest on a landslip close to the village of Horni Nemci.
It was the landslip that gave the site its name: Uvezene meaning “the slip”. If you are standing on the site, looking at this tag, you will notice, that the tag is placed on the “wall” which remained in place after part of the slope had slipped downhill many years ago. In a few short moments, the trees had literally lost the soil under their roots and a deep ravine appeared. Today, the old landslip is covered with forest again. If you are lucky and look carefully at fallen decaying tree trunks, branches, and stumps, you might find a rather peculiar blue slug. Its name is Bielzia coerulans (the Carpathian Blue Slug). It is a rare species which is native here and can be found only in the forests of the Carpathian Mountain Range.
Type of protected area under CZ national legislation: Nature Monument
Managed by: the state, through Bile Karpaty (White Carpathians) Protected Landscape Area Administration
