White Carpathians - Protected Areas
LAZY
A small-scale protected area in the Vlara River valley south of the town of Brumov-Bylnice designated to help the conservation of flower meadows and meadow springs.
This site is a very interesting example of a species-rich White Carpathian meadow. Although the area of the reserve is just 3ha (about 5 football pitches), botanists have found 290 plant species here, including the rare Common Spotted Orchid (Dactylorhiza fuchsii var. Sooana) which within the Czech Republic grows only here, in the White Carpathians. If you come here in May/June, you can see some other orchids as well: the Military Orchid (Orchis militaris) , Broad-leaved Marsh Orchid (Dactylorhiza majalis), and Pink Globe Orchid (Traunsteinera globosa).
