Things to note
The motif of a lime tree and its magical power often appear in literature. We can read the following in the book called “Trees and their healing power” written by Jiří Bodlák: “There used to be a nice habit kept in the lands of Bohemians, Moravians and Silesians. On whatever occasion, be it a wedding or any other important event, a lime tree was planted and village gatherings and preaches took place under it. A lime tree was riddled with many legends. A lime bast was used to capture demons. A little lime figure was said to bring luck. Lime bark worn protected one against poison and its leaves were used at secret magic ceremonies as a means for gaining immortality. Famous altars are carved out of lime wood as its Latin name is lignum sanctum, which stands for sacred wood”.
