Things to note

Josef Eichendorff (1788 – 1857) was one of the greatest German romantic poets. As a co-owner of a rural manor in Sedlnice he spent some time of his life in here (his father gained a manor in Kravaře by marriage and had a baroque chateau built in Kravaře. Due to his indebtedness he was later forced to sell off all of his property apart from the rural dominion). The key aspect of Eichendorf work is represented by lyrical poems. They compass a remarkable harmony and emotion exalting the beauties of nature, life, youth, spring and love. For their melodiousness and emotional depth many of them were musicalized by composers of renowned names such as K.M.Weber, F. Schubert, F. Mendelson Bartholdy or R. Schumann. Eichendorf´s selected poems in Czech translation of Ivan Slavík were published under the name “Eternal Traveller Nostalgia“ in 1966.
