Matters of interest

Mankovice parish can be found on the southern edge of Poodří Protected Landscape Area. An old trade road – „The amber route“ used to lead through this parish, connecting the Danube and the Baltic sea. The first written mention about Mankovice comes from the year 1374. Mankovice belonged to Kravaře domain until 1436, later on to the Oder domain. Czech language was declared the official language during the Hussite period (German was the official language until then). The Czech name Mankovice comes from the year 1447. At present, you can visit the Church of the Visitation of Mother Mary from 1795 and a few stone crosses. Regarding the natural monuments, we can recommend a visit of the lime mentioned above and especially Poodří Protected Landscape Area.
