Matters of interest

The baroque Nová Horka Castle lies close to Studénka parish in Poodří Protected Landscape Area. It was built by Charles Joseph Vetter from Lilie in the place of a former fort in the year 1742. The castle area was rebuilt in the rococo style and reconstructed once again to its current form in the novo gothic style after the fire in 1856. The Vetters owned the castle until 1945. The castle now serves as an institute of social welfare. The castle park with numerous exotic trees is considered being very extraordinary from the botanical point of view. The park vegetation, originally an alluvial forest, has been growing in Nová Horka since the first half of the 19th century.
