The Dutch-type wind mill is the only one of its kind in the Moravia part of the Czech Republic. 300 horse-pulled wagons of stone were needed to build this mill in 1842.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the mill was owned by the miller Jan Kasik. The mill was not doing very well, however. It was only when the miller’s son, Bedrich, sent some money back from America, where he had gone in hope of earning enough money to improve his family’s financial situation, the miller was able to add a small house next to the mill. Bedrich eventually returned and added a barn and cattle byres. He kept the mill in operation until 1946.

Today, the windmill is part of Czech national heritage. It is one of the properties looked after by the Technical Museum in Brno.
