Trail No.1 – Along the pillory in search of views
Red tourist mark, 5.5 km in length (approx. 2 hours), elevation of 130 m, surface: asphalt, forest paths and pastures
A walking trail passing Šibeniční Hill and Vinice Hill with panoramic views of Šumava midlands and Pošumaví leads to a forest chapel of Virgin Marry the Helper and back along St. Nicolas Church to Kašperské Hory town.
Points of interest: a stone pillory from the year 1630, traces of surface mining, a forest chapel of Virgin Marry the Helper and the opportunity to join a guided tour of a unique early-Gothic St. Nicolas Church – three-winged basilica from the period preceding the year 1330. Warning: The trail ends at the forest chapel where it turns and after approx. 300 m connects to the route back (see the map). The trail is marked in one direction only. Follow the arrow signs on the map for better orientation. Recommended – tour of St. Nicolas Church: Discover beautiful coloured frescos in early- Gothic Church of St. Nicolas in Kašperské Hory! The Church of St. Nicolas is situated at a municipal cemetery and can be visited with a guide. The guided tour includes the interiors and exteriors of the church and the adjacent Chapel of St. Anna.
