Czech Spring of the Lužnice River

It is a “false” spring of the Lužnice River, as the real spring area is located approximately 3 km far from here in Austria on the north-western slope of the Aichelberg Mountain. The Czech spring was discovered and modified with a lot of fanfare by the then mayor of the village of Pohorská Ves in the mid-90´s of the 20th century. It is situated in the area of the Stodůlecký Hill nature monument – a forest peatbog covering an area of 40 hectares. The Lužnice River watercourse is 208 km long and the volume of its water is regulated by many fishponds in its river basin.
