Kamenec Hill

The Kamenec Hill is a high (1072 m ASL) and significant point of the Pohořská Hornatina Heights as a well as the highest mountain of the Czech part of the Novohradské Mountains. It is located 3.5 km south-west of Pohoří na Šumavě. The summit itself is formed by a vast eroded rocky rampart of a predominantly granodiorite composition. The summit lies on the main European watershed of the Elbe River and the Danube River. Approximately 1.2 km north of the summit, there was the Paulina colony where the glassworks was operated between 1780 and 1852. The colony was forested after 1945.
