Pohořské Peatbog

The area where the Pohořský Stream rises ranks among the protected peatbogs and is also called „U tří můstků“ (By three small bridges). With an area of 3.8 hectares, it is located between the village of Jiřice and Pohoří na Šumavě. This territory is a botanically interesting and unique site in every season of the year. The geological basement is mostly covered with the peat deposits. The vegetation cover is predominated by a complex of waterlogged spruce forests with an occurrence of Bazzania trilobata and stunded peatbog spruce forests making up a mosaic together with the cultural spruce stands in the non-waterlogged habitats. An unusual variety of communities is reflected by the relatively rich flora.
