Plané Loučky Nature Reserve

Plané Loučky is a vast unique network of the meadow and marshland habitats in the vicinity of the Mlýnský Stream in the south of the Litovelské Pomoraví Protected Landscape Area. The reserve is a representative sample of the marshland area of the Morava River alluvial plain with wet meadows, reeds and a number of both periodic and permanent pools. A structured microrelief creates a mosaic of many different vegetation types in a relatively small area. The notable protected plant species growing here include the marsh pea (Lathyrus palustris), Juncus atratus, Marsh Gentian (Gentiana pneumonanthe) and Trollius altissimus. A rare crustacean Lynceus which occurs only here in Moravia lives in the periodic pools. The beavers occur around the Mlýnský Stream, while the smallest rodent living in the Czech Republic – Harvest Mouse (Micromys minutus) builds its nest in the reeds.
