Kačležský Pond
The Kačležský Pond is one of the eastest and highest (545 m ASL) located fish ponds in the south of Bohemia. It is located around 6 km south-east from Jindřichův Hradec and 1.5 km from the village of Kačlehy. It was built up in 1544 and its latest modifications were carried by Jakub Krčín, a prominent designer and founder of fish ponds. The pond is supplied with water from the Koštěnický stream. The water body covers an area of around 196 hectares. The pond is not too deep; its average depth is around 1.5 m. The Kačležský Pond along with the Krvavý Pond make up a nature reserve designed to protect especially the rare fishpond ecosystem and a nesting place of birds (an occurrence of a White-tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) was also recorded here).
