Kapličky Crossroads
The Kapličky Peatbog Nature Reserve is located in the Český Krumlov district, south-west of the village of Loučovice. It is a vast peatbog of a high-moor to transitional type which includes both the woodless stands and forest stands with a spruce, pine hybrids (…), waterlogged spruce woods and a peatbog forest-free area. The Lipový stream flows through the centre of the nature reserve. The geological basement is formed by granite with a few metre thick peat layer in the overburden. The area belongs to the Vyšebrodsko Nature Park. The important plant species occurring here include: Andromeda glaucophylla, Arnica montana, Ranunculus aconitifolius, Tephroseris crispa. The occurrence of critically endangered fauna species (butterfly Melitaea diamina, Boloria aquilonaris) and others endangered butterfly species is also typical. The nature reserve is also home for Carabus Menetriesi Pacholei the protection of which is also a reason why the Kapličky Peatbogs was declared to be the European important site.
