Kladrubská Hora Nature Reserve

The Kladrubská Hora (Kladrubská Mountain) nature reserve lies approximately 12 km of Tábor between the villages of Dolní Hořice and Kladruby in the Křemešnická Vrchovina highlands. The nature reserve includes the forested peak part of the Kladrubská Mountain and the abandoned large limestone quarry with the neighbouring small rural pits. The subject of the protection is the rocky massif formed by crystalline limestones with the rare calcareous fauna and flora. Due to the occurrence of the Cypripedium (Cypripedium calveolus), it ranks among the European important sites. Among the plants, also the critically endangered Ceterach officinarum, Cephalanthera damasonium, Epipactis atrorubens, Arrhenatherum elativ occur. In terms of fauna, there is an abundance of Xerolenta obvia and gastropoda, Phyllotreta or birds (Bubo bubo, Sylvia atricapilla).
