Choustník

The Choustník nature reserve is located about 15 km south-east of Tábor on the elongated ridge of the mountain of the same name. The subject of protection is a rocky summit of the Choustník nature reserve with fragments of the natural mixed forest stands upon which an occurrence of important species of birds, beetles and diptera depend. The natural rocky outcrops of the biotite and muscovite orthogneiss with tower-like weathering along the systems of cracks form a rock city with distinctive shapes and surface formations (honeycombs, boulder heaps, …), giving the Choustník nature reserve a status of a geologically important site.
