Rohanov (Libín crossroads)
A small village of Rohanov (there are only 16 permanent residents living here (ČSÚ, 2001), 3 km from the village of Chroboly in the district of Prachatice, is a starting point for the tourists walking to the summit of the Libín mountain (1096 m ASL). The stony, 27 meter high, lookout tower Libín was erected here as early as in 1883, offering a beautiful view of the town of Prachatice, major part of the Bohemian Forest (Šumava) and Novohradské Mountains, Českobudějovická basin, Brdská Vrchovina Highland as well as the hills of the Alps under the good visibility conditions. The Libín nature reserve on the steep north-east slope of the Libín Mountain was declared in 1988. The reason for the protection is a natural mountain wood (fern type of beach woods) with even primeval forest residues in places and an occurrence of protected flora and fauna species (e.g. ground beetle, three-toed woodpecker (Picoides tridactylus), alpine ring ouzel (Turdus torquatus), boreal owl (Aegolius cinereus), Red-breasted Flycatcher (Ficedula parva) or lynx (Lynx lynx).
